The Power of Community in Your Entrepreneurial Walk of Faith

Connecting with your business besties

In my last blog post, I shared how I finally surrendered all my business plans to God, and almost instantly was sent the most aligned client. But a big part of me even coming to surrender lies in finding two amazing sisters in Christ: Rose and Meagan.

See, Rose asked me all the right questions that led me to trust that in this season, being “just” a virtual assistant (as I was referring to it), is exactly how God wants me to serve.

Then, Meagan, who built Sanctified Society alongside the Holy Spirit, has honestly been the biggest emotional and mindset support that I didn’t realize I needed.

And of course, I’ve connected with some of you through Threads, and I just love the work God is doing through you, through us.

Three of my biggest takeaways…

…from immersing myself in Christ centered community while on my entrepreneurial walk of faith.

1. Iron Sharpens Iron

Proverbs 27:17 states, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." (NIV). There will inevitably be people around you who will have a fuller understanding of different areas that might fill in the specific gaps you carry in your own understanding. You can learn from them by the grace of God in the presence of the Holy Spirit. And there will inevitably be others whom you can bless with your unique gifts and understanding. Then we’re given the opportunity to give, which is an even greater blessing than receiving!

2. Two Are Better Than One

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up." (NIV). I see this verse as a testament to collaboration and being in servitude for and with each other. So when you fall short, in any way, you need brothers and sisters in Christ who will lift you up.

3. We Were Designed for Community

We were simply designed to be in community. I mean, Adam couldn’t quite relate to the animals, but I imagine how he must’ve lit up when he spoke the words “this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh…”.

In an everyday example, it’s kind of like when I told my husband “someone just signed up for my freebie!” and he was happy for me, but didn’t truly understand the implications. But when I share this kind of news with someone on a similar path as I am, they understand that the work I put into putting this free resource together is paying off in two big ways: it’s blessing the receiver with all the intention behind my work, and I now have someone within my own community who I can nurture in whichever way God will use my gifts to nurture them.

Join the Community

I don’t know any Christian business owners locally whom I can come together with in service, so I found them online! God has chosen us to be part of this journey alongside each other, and we see the fruits of our faithfulness regularly.

So this is just an informal invitation to be in community, whether it’s one that I mentioned, or you find or start another. Maybe God’s been nudging you towards a community, consider this your final push into obedience.

Not all groups are biblically and Holy Spirit-led, so your hesitation is valid, but He is our ultimate teacher. James 1:5 says “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (NIV). Pray on it, sister. He gifts us discernment if we just ask. Let Him guide you and use you to edify others in your work. Amen!
