Surrendering My Business Plans to God

How a deeper connection with the Holy Spirit led to signing a client before even launching my business.

A bachelor’s in business, all the certificates, courses, and webinars…and God was like “not in my Kingdom!

Kinda kidding! (But also, not really.)

Let’s rewind. I left my “comfy” work-from-home job when my first baby was only a couple months old. I honestly don’t know how other mamas do it!

Striving not thriving…

Since then, I finished my schooling and attempted many times, failing almost as many times, to start my own business… including going the MLM route of course.

I originally came to the online business world offering bookkeeping services, since that’s what I enjoyed most in the corporate world. But I wasn’t seeing any movement. So I did what we all do when we suddenly feel inadequate or unqualified- spent money we didn’t have on coaching, a course, and a lot of time learning all the “strategies.” None of which actually helped me “land a client,” which only fed my insecurities.

But that wasn’t even what brought me to surrender my business plans to God.

I had grown frustrated with my personal life, even when I thought I was doing all the “right” Christian things (honestly, I was mostly just following religious rules). So, I fell into self-improvement…when really, God calls us to self-sacrifice so that He can make us new. Anyway, I was tired of being confused!

Once I did truly come back to Jesus, I kept feeling this need to serve. And the pull was, once again, towards the online business space. Except this time, I was really building a two-way communicative relationship with the Lord.

Here’s what that looks like for me:

As much quiet, slow, alone time as possible… (with two kids under four, ha!)

Writing every single prayer, question, Bible notes, more questions, and finally, answers from God. This helps me quiet down my own mind enough to hear Him.

Actually reading the Bible! Chapter by chapter, learning the full context, stopping to ask God direct questions.

Obeying! When I hear an answer, even if it seems like a quiet whisper, and even if it's not what I wanted or expected, I try my best to live it out.

This is how I’ve gotten to know our Heavenly Father and refined my hearing. And there’s just been this overwhelming sense of peace that truly strengthens my faith. It’s a deep assurance that my obedience is bringing us closer, and that He truly has my back in all areas of my life.

This is where it gets GOOD

So I’m obeying, right? And He goes and connects me with these two amazing women in this space. (But I’ll get back to them in a later post! ❤️) It was at this stage that I was blessed with so much clarity on what He wanted me to do with the time I was trying to give back to Him.

It became abundantly clear that He wanted me to use the strengths He's blessed me with: my business-savvy brain, a servant's heart, and a knack for tech, to lighten the load for His other servants. If you're a woman who’s building a Kingdom-impact business or ministry online, pouring your heart into a God-given vision, you know you can't DIY it forever. He wants me to help you serve sustainably, so you can continue making that big impact without burning out.

In that moment, out of pure excitement and joy (and relief after all that "fake hustle"!), I shared my revelation on Threads. Finally, I had clarity and support from the Highest.

Overnight, my now client reached out to me. Not only is she my first client, but we’ve also become like business besties!

Working with her has been such a blessing and a testament to God's perfect timing. We've truly collaborated to strengthen her Christ-centered impact. I've had the joy of helping her keep track of her group coaching clients' KPIs and sending out monthly reviews. While she's the incredible coach providing spiritual guidance, my work was all about providing the analytical and data entry support that helps her understand her clients' journey and guide them effectively. (I love me some spreadsheets and Canva!)

I've also helped her write out Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on quick Loom videos she sends me. This is huge for her, allowing her to easily outsource tasks and really ditch the overwhelm! It’s incredible to see how organizing workflows brings so much clarity and peace.

I also got to help her edit a mini audio course, which has been my favorite task so far! And now, we’re working on launching her own podcast to help bring in aligned clients on a long-term basis. It’s exactly the kind of seamless operational support that allows her to expand her reach and effectiveness.

This partnership is a beautiful example of how God works. It’s not about striving or hustling, but about listening, obeying, and trusting His plan. My biggest takeaway? When you surrender your business, and your life, to the Holy Spirit, He doesn't just provide; He provides in ways that exceed your expectations, often connecting you with exactly who you need to fulfill His purpose.

I’d love to hear if there’s been a time in your own journey when surrendering to God brought unexpected clarity or provision—or if there’s something He’s currently asking of you that just doesn’t make logical sense! Feel free to email me directly to share your story or your heart. I truly believe that God doesn't call us to work alone, especially when He’s stirring a new project, a new outreach, or a deeper impact in your heart, like a podcast, a fresh ministry initiative, or a strategic pivot. If even the thought of adding more to your plate feels overwhelming, let's explore how you can move forward with support, bringing your big, God-given vision to life without burnout.
